Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

New for 2022 – Coupes: as new versions of the Alpine A110 arrive, Toyota is renewing its coupe, which is now called GR 86.

At Porsche we don’t do lace, Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS has an atmospheric flat-six that develops the power of 500 hp. Given the limited weight of the assembly, thanks to the use of a bonnet and front fenders in CFRP (carbon/plastic), a lightened rear window and the sparing use of sound-absorbing materials, we obtain a weight/power ratio of 2.98 kg/hp. Or roughly the weight/power ratio displayed by a Porsche GT3 equipped with a PDK gearbox, the same transmission as the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS. Compared to the “normal” 718 Cayman GT4, which is a little heavier by 20 kg and less powerful with only 420 hp, the RS goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 s, i.e. half a second less. It is also faster with 315 km/h instead of 302 km/h. This is valid on a circuit, on which the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS will feel very comfortable, since it has been optimized for the track with its imposing rear spoiler, its specific spoiler and diffuser… On the road it will be appropriate to be softer on the right pedal. Price of the racing car: from €144,485 + €40,000 ecological penalty.

Ferrari 296 GTB

New for 2022 – Coupes: as new versions of the Alpine A110 arrive, Toyota is renewing its coupe, which is now called GR 86.

These are the first deliveries for this compact and refined coupe called Ferrari 296 GTB and which is powered by a V6 twin-turbo plug-in hybrid. A small 2.9 liter V6 engine that develops the beautiful power of 830 hp. This is achieved thanks to the biturbo V6 of 663 hp (a record for a production car with 221 hp/l) associated with an electric motor with kinetic energy recovery (MGU-K) which distributes for its part 167 hp. Total power is 830 hp to the rear wheels with a phenomenal torque of 740 Nm. Before reaching the rear wheels, this power passes through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an electronically controlled differential that allows the Ferrari 296 GTB to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 s and to reach on circuit, more than 330 km/h in peak. If the sound of the V6 engine has been very worked by the engineers of the transalpine brand, the Ferrari 296 GTB can also move without too much noise by drawing energy from its 7.45 kWh battery to power the electric motor. The announced autonomy is then 25 kilometers and the speed limited to 135 km/h. On board, facing the driver, there is a digital instrument cluster, a steering wheel from which most of the controls are operated, the steering is electrically assisted and the braking is electrical “brake-by-wire“. Price: €269,000. An Assetto Fiorano version (photo) which weighs 15 kg less and is fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres, shock absorbers with track settings and aerodynamic elements for more downforce. It is offered at €302,000.

Toyota GR 86

New for 2022 – Coupes: as new versions of the Alpine A110 arrive, Toyota is renewing its coupe, which is now called GR 86.

Already sold in North America and Japan, new coupé Toyota GR 86 will only arrive here in the spring of 2022 and should disappear from the manufacturer’s catalog in early 2024 in Europe (due to new safety standards). Replacing the Toyota GT 86, this new coupe comes between the Toyota GR Yaris and the Toyota GR Supra. Toyota is taking advantage of its sports department Gazoo Racing (the initials GR) to boost its sporty rear-wheel-drive coupe with a naturally aspirated engine and a manual gearbox. The Toyota GR 86 coupé takes up the technical basis of the GT 86 with a flat four cylinder bored out to 2.4 liters of displacement now displaying 234 hp (against 200 hp previously). The 0 to 100 km/h is announced in 6.3 s, i.e. a gain of more than one second (1.3 s exactly), performance is also up thanks to a more advantageous weight/power ratio (5. 46 kg/hp against 6.19 kg/hp for the GT86). The entry-level price of the Toyota GR 86 should be around €35,000.

Nissan Z

New for 2022 – Coupes: as new versions of the Alpine A110 arrive, Toyota is renewing its coupe, which is now called GR 86.

Unfortunately for us, the new Nissan Z (which replaces the Nissan 370Z) will not be distributed by the Japanese brand in France. Too bad, because its style, very strongly inspired by the Z Proto concept car unveiled in September 2020, is very original. Without going into neo-retro, the Nissan Z has lines at the front reminiscent of the 1970 Datsun 240Z and at the rear lines inspired by those of the 300ZX coupe of the 1990s. is entitled to digital instrumentation (12.3 inches) and an 8 or 9 inch touch screen depending on the version chosen. Under the hood, a 3-litre, 405-hp twin-turbo V6 that still drives the rear wheels. You have the choice between a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic transmission. In terms of performance, the manufacturer announces that the 0 to 100 km / h is swallowed in less than 5 seconds

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

New for 2022 – Coupes: as new versions of the Alpine A110 arrive, Toyota is renewing its coupe, which is now called GR 86.

These are the beginnings of marketing for the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in the United States, for France it will be necessary to wait until next year. This Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is exciting in more ways than one, rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive and naturally aspirated 5.5 V8 producing 679 hp at 8,400 rpm. A sturdy block which is derived from that of the Chevrolet Corvette C8.R which run the 24 hours of Le Mans. Small peculiarity of this V8 engine, its crankshaft which is not cross, but flat like at Ferrari (that is to say that the connecting rod pins are all on the same plane). The advantage of this crankshaft is to have a lower mass and therefore less inertia and to be able to rev up more quickly and change speed more quickly. With its 679 hp V8, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 coupé (there is also a convertible) goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds (for the 0 to 100 km/h we should get it in 2.7 s ), which is eight-tenths less than the 482-hp V8-powered Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray, which is not yet underpowered.
