Despite the health context and the Omicron wave, the CES organizers decided to maintain the event. However, many large companies have thrown in the towel at the last minute. After the cancellation of the 2021 edition, another setback was obviously not possible.

CES 2022 was therefore less flowery than in previous years. Sometimes the products were not even on display. LG, for example, chose to reserve a space of several hundred square meters to display QR Codes on desks, QR Codes which then made it possible to see the products in 3D in augmented reality. This year the cars have had an even more important place than usual. While manufacturers have all started their transition to electric, some have indulged in dazzling concept cars.

Very fit, BMW has unveiled two original vehicles. The first one embarks a giant 8K screen in the passenger compartment in order to watch films and series in the greatest comfort. The second is a vehicle dressed in a material capable of blending into the background like a chameleon. Thereby, the car changes color in real time. Impressive.

Cadillac also stood out with a futuristic concept worthy of the best science fiction films. At General Motors, the star of the show was an autonomous, flying car. Just that.

Finally, Sony has got a foothold in the auto industry with an electric SUV that left no one indifferent.

Still in the world of cars, Tesla once again put on the show. The company offered journalists and visitors to try the experience of its tunnel under Las Vegas. This project carried out in collaboration with The Boring Company aims to travel dozens of kilometers underground in order to avoid traffic jams. On the course, several stations allow you to stop to come back to the surface.

CES has traditionally been the showcase for next-generation TVs. This edition is no exception even if the evolutions are not transcendent. Samsung has unveiled its QD-OLED TVs, combining the excellent brightness of LCD technology with the high level of contrast of OLED. Panasonic, LG and Sony have also gone there with their TV ads.

The real innovations were rather on the side of Samsung and Anker who both unveiled portable projectors, the Freestyle for the first, the Cosmos Laser 4K for the second. These two devices can transform any surface into a cinema screen with image quality up to 4K definition and high brightness. Bluffing.

This CES 2022 was also that of monitors. Gaming and teleworking having taken a more important place in our homes since the health crisis, brands are rushing into the breach. Samsung (again) unveiled the Odyssey Ark, a giant curved monitor can also be oriented in portrait for a better multitasking experience. It will also delight the players, of course. Alienware has also presented a monitor of its kind incorporating the same QD-OLED technology, a first on this type of device.

In the ocean of PCs presented at the show, three models particularly caught our attention. Let’s start with Dell’s XPS 13 Plus laptop which particularly seduced us with its design that is both minimalist and futuristic. Elegant, it will be marketed this year at a price between 1500 euros and 2000 euros. It will position itself as a direct competitor to Apple’s MacBook Pro M1.

Asus has also increased the number of announcements, but that’s good son Zenbook 17 Fold. This 17 ” laptop PC has the particularity of integrating a foldable screen. It can therefore be used as a tablet or a PC. A keyboard accessory is then applied to it and the machine automatically switches to PC mode. When folded, the Zenbook Fold displays a diagonal of 12.5 inches.

Finally, it is impossible to talk about PC at CES without mentioning Razer’s Project Sophia. More than a PC, this concept is in fact an ultra-connected desktop for gamers. Completely modular, it integrates the ultimate setup for players and / or streamers. From the screen to the webcam via the microphone, everything is there.

You have certainly noticed from reading the previous lines, many new concepts and products could never have existed without a foldable screen. Real common thread of this CES, this technology was present almost everywhere. On smartphones, tablets and even PCs.

Flexible tiles also affect other areas such as the automobile where this technology is needed in the interior design. On the business side, the feats achieved by Samsung allow us to glimpse new advertising media.

Despite the Covid crisis, professionals in the sector were able to present technologies that are still as innovative as possible.
