Ready to get old? We are on January 31, 2022, and today we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII in Japan, which was released there at the beginning of 1997 before landing in the West at the end of the year. This episode allowed the saga to become legendary, and is quite simply one of RPG perhaps one of the most famous and beloved games of all time.

Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary message 25 years

It’s more relevant than ever right now thanks to the long-awaited and highly successful Final Fantasy VII Remake, surprisingly Battle Royale in free-to-play Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier and to the curious Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, which wants to concentrate the whole story of the game and its spin-offs in a mobile adventure with some exclusives. And, above all, gamers are waiting for news about the sequel to FFVII Remake, which will take us beyond Midgar. It is in this context that Yoshinori Kitase, director of the original, and Tetsuya Nomura, creative director of the remake, released a message to celebrate this 25th anniversary and look to the future with hope.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII. It also marks the 35th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series itself, which means that Final Fantasy VII was born in the 10th year of this 35-year history.

Personally, I had always thought of Final Fantasy VII as a recent game, but now it has become one of the “first series” games. Still, we were honored last year when it was voted the third most popular game of all time by gamers in a (Japanese) TV poll. If we were able to achieve something like this, it’s largely thanks to all the support we’ve received from our fans over the long years. Thank you very much.

Final Fantasy VII has re-emerged as the latest game in the series once again, with titles like Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, and you can expect even more exciting new developments in the future. !

With the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII this year, the game has now been around for a quarter of a century. I’m truly grateful to all the fans who have loved Final Fantasy VII over these 25 years, and thanks to your support, Cloud has never felt far away during this time.

Following on from the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier has also opened, and we also have Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis waiting in the wings. With all these exciting new projects, I really feel how more and more people are supporting Final Fantasy VII. Not only fans of the original game, but also those who have never experienced it are drawn to the unique world of Final Fantasy VII.

And there are even more new Final Fantasy VII projects that kicked off after the upcoming remake in the future too. The team sees this 25th anniversary as a milestone in our journey with Final Fantasy VII, and will continue to push forward to even greater things, so please continue to support us in the future!
